Diabetes is a chronic disease, affecting approximately 220 million people worldwide. Diabetes Mellitus, often known simply as diabetes, is a disease in which people have high blood sugar, resulting from the pancreas not being able to produce sufficient insulin or the insulin not being used effectively by the body.
A person's health can be severely affected by diabetes – some common health issues in diabetics include nerve damage, kidney damage, retinopathy or blindness, stroke, and heart disease.
